What’s the best treatment for social phobia with depression, anxiety & borderline personality disorder?
i don’t know about best treatment but i can describe what i know that has helped me very much (although I was diagnosed with bipolar, depression, and anxiety). but, i know that the treatment I used can be applied to borderline personality disorder. I saw a therapist. took me a long time before i found one i felt comfortable with. he really helped. i had at the same time a psychiatrist since i took anti-depressants. again, it took me a long time before finding the right doctor and then the right anti-depressant.
I also did many EMDR sessions which were very helpful to me. EMDR is a rather new technique. There are other neurological techniques available that you can check online.
Regarding EMDR and other neurobiological techniques: There are pros and cons with any of these techniques. My opinion is solely based on my own experience. I do not pretend to speak for anyone else and am aware that these same techniques do not work for everybody.

I have all of the above…here is my med list - Cymbalta 60mg, Lamictal 150mg, Nortriptyline 75mg, Seroquel 50mg as needed and Klonopin 1mg as needed. I go to support groups, therapy and see a nurse practitioner for meds. I’ve been going through this, diagnosed, for 12 years. You need to pay close attention to your self-talk and work on making it positive, instead of negative. Hope you feel better soon!

Talk to a counsellor, find good support and work hard at getting through your problems. That is the best treatment.

Social anxiety can cause these feelings, which can also lead to severe depression,

There is hope; I’ve been there, and still am there, it is a long, hard struggle. I recommend
Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cognitive_b... worked best for me, with mild anti-anxiety meds. I suffered from social anxiety for over 15 years. I’ve tried individual therapy, and group therapy and studied psychology for 10 years, as a profession, but also with the hope to cure myself.
Depending on your comfort level, you could go to a psychologist that practices CBT and specializes in anxiety disorders, seek a group therapy, or create one. Usually those that do attend the group therapy are a bit more high functioning because as you know, it can be difficult to speak in a group.
Another idea is to see if there are any local research studies being conducted that you could participate in.
The program that finally worked the best for me is this one: http://www.socialanxiety.us/findinghelp…. and I was lucky enough to have a structured behavioral group to go along with it. Sometimes the people that actually attend this program come back home and form groups.
I recommend a mild anti-anxiety med, and a beta-blocker (it will reduce shaking and tremors enormously, but only use in extreme situations) in addition to CBT therapy.
Any questions, let me know … I can’t tell you how much this has improved my life!
