Question about Social Anxiety Disorder treatment…?
What is the best way to treat anxiety and panic associated with Social Anxiety Disorder if you don’t want to use benzos? I’ve tried Effexor XR but it doesn’t seem to help.
For medication, only a doctor will tell.
I used to suffer from social anxiety. I had anxiety when I had to speak in public. Or when there would be more than a few people around me in the same room. It was something that started when I was a teenager and that lasted over years and subsequently affected my career until not so long ago.
At some point, I was prescribed medicine but I wanted to avoid that (for other reasons I will not get into). That’s when I discovered a program that literally pulled me out of that "hole".
It is a natural method, i.e. without drugs. The main key of that method is that you should no longer fear the thought of anxiety. It helps you get out of that loop.
Good luck!

The best thing to do is find a therapist. I know you probably don’t want to go to counseling, but trust a girl whose gone through it, it’s more than worth it! The key is to find a therapist who specializes in cognitive therapy. You may find someone who works with biofeedback therapy, but that type did not help me at all. The next thing to do is go to the doctor and tell them what is going on. Ask specifically for an anti-depressant and Xanax. At first you will probably be using the xanax a lot but as time goes by you will be able to stop using it entirely. Good luck with everything and just remember everything will get better!
