Can you give me some spiritual Support for a person who’s going through Social anxiety?

What does the bible/God says about this. even though I am going through a tough time in my life I still love and pray to God with all my heart for this to pass. and have faith that it will pass one day.
Please, give me some support from the bible about anxiety.
thank you so much and God bless you all.

a girl with Social anxiety~

I need phrases that will give me strenght and support. from God
Thank you so much for those who really answered my question, I appreciate it.

Well, God didn’t put you here to suffer, but I don’t think that religion or spirituality is really going to help you that much.

What you need to do is gradually deal with more and more stressful situations until your social anxiety is in check.

It’s called "exposure therapy." You can do it on your own, or go to a therapist/group therapy for more support.

I used the book Dying of Embarrassment and individual therapy to deal with my generalized anxiety and social phobia, as well as medication. The meds helped me get my anxiety to a manageable level so that I could do the work I needed to do.

Start small, like making eye contact with strangers and making small talk. Just little things. Do that one thing consistently until you feel comfortable with it. Then move on to less comfortable things.

It will take a while to work up to public speaking and interviews, since those are very stressful, but you’ll see yourself making progress and you’ll reduce your anxiety overall. In time, you’ll see that your perception of people judging you is probably way off–people all have a little anxiety, and if the people around you truly are judgmental jerks, LEAVE THEM!!!!!

You’ll develop the confidence to interact with ordinary people and avoid/minimize the damage from nasty mean people.

God is love and no one is an island. I don’t mean to sound trite–when you deal with your problems, you’ll understand that you’re meant to make connections with people and get your own needs met by others. You deserve companionship, love, care, joy, and excitement.

This is important work, and you’ll be a better person. A happier, stronger person. When you find success in dealing with your own problems and then you get out into the world, for work, play, family, and community, you are doing something vital and adding love to the world.

Don’t get bogged down in feeling selfish or weak or any of that garbage you tell yourself in that snippy little voice that plays in your head. You deserve to work hard on yourself so that later on, you can help others.

But help yourself first. There is no work more important than making your own life better. In the end, you have YOUR life. YOU are responsible for yourself and nobody else. So do the most that you can with the life you’ve been given and God couldn’t be happier with you.

Instead of praying for it to pass, do something that might actually help like talk to a therapist or a counselor.

    Read 1 Peter 1:6

Do not pray any holy rosary or to the heart of Mary. Mary was a mere mortal like you and me and cannot intercede for you. Christ died to intercede for you. Pray in the name of Jesus and God will comfort you.

Christ is our HOPE, He is always WITH US in our life’s joy and sorrows. You can depend on Jesus always, He will give you peace and alleviate your burdens. Keep praying with faith and the Lord will Hear and deliver you when it is time, I promise.

Learn to Pray the Holy Rosary, Pray a nine day "Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus" and a nine day Novena to the "Immaculate Heart of Mary"! God bless you!

I also have social anxiety disorder. I’m not sure where in the bible it says it, if at all. But I know it says something about depression, just can’t remember where though.

But I’m currently using Xanax and it kinda helps a bit with the anxiety. I’m thinking of trying out beta blockers for the physical signs like trembling, heart racing, sweaty hands etc with Xanax.

Keep praying to God and remember that you must stand with God aswel to try overcome it. There is no cure for S.A.D but there is treatment that can help you. It’s a horrible thing to live with and I feel your pain, trust me. It’s one of the worse disorders in the world. But since I’ve come closer to God I’ve felt more confident in Him. Read your bible aswel as it gives alot of inspiration, especially the words Jesus spoke.

Goodluck to you and God Bless

Without knowing any details. Start in the Book of Psalms. Focusing on God, and not on your troubles will help some as well. Not only pray to Him, but Praise Him. Lift up your voice in Hallels.

Here i a site that might help.

This is a medical problem. I, too, wished for it to pass (for years) and did everything I knew to do to help myself deal with it on a spiritual level. Finally, I went to a different dr., and he immediately told me that I had an anxiety disorder. I wasn’t "doing" anything to cause it. Circumstances had caused it. He prescribed two medications for me–one to take on a daily basis, and one to use only if I have to perform in front of people (singing in a small group at church, etc.) or if I have to deal with a person who causes me anxiety. I am 80% better after four months, and I no longer have panic attacks. The two medications are Lexapro (daily) and Propanalol (for occasional use). These are both prescription medications. You will have to ask your dr. to write a prescription for one or both of them. The Bible says "Take no thought for the morrow" and that is excellent advice. Sometimes in times of extreme stress, all we can do is worry about what tomorrow will bring–especially if there is imminent danger to ourselves or those we love. Pray that God will help you to be a brave person and that He will guide you to have the discernment to do what is the best thing, always adding at the end, "Thy will be done". We can’t change God’s plans for us, but we can help ourselves to be the best we can be. Sometimes medical intervention is needed. That’s why I’m mentioning to you what has really helped me. Good luck to you.
